We know our blog readers are all classy ladies, well… classy with a bit of sassy! Sometimes trying to get that perfect mix of sophistication and sexiness can be a fine line. One of the latest trends that seems to get that balance just right is named Regencycore, based on one of our favorite TV shows, the fabulous Bridgerton. This mix of high-society glam and vintage couture has reigned over our fashionistas, stylish brides, and guests, since Bridgerton was first released in December 2020. The first season seems so long ago, followed by a juicy season two, a confirmed season three for late 2023 and a spin-off TV show soon to be released in May!
We all fell in love with the characters, the storyline, and maybe just a little with the rather dashing, Duke and Viscount. There is no doubt we adore the Regencycore style too, with the release of Bridgerton inspiring a jaw-dropping 146% increase in searches for floral dresses and an 84% rise in searches for Regency dresses.
So, what is Regencycore? As the name suggests it does have Regency at the core with jacquard and brocade designs. The color palette is blues, purples, pinks, greens, yellows, and oranges but the shades are on the softer side. A little floral but not garish bold flowers - soft just like the color palette. Empire waistlines and long or mid-length hemlines work well - not a mini skirt in sight! Necklines can be a scoop, v, or high and these Regency ladies were not adverse to showing more than a little cleavage! Sleeves can be short and simple, puffy, or fitted. A plethora of embellishments are usually part of this look with detailing, lace, pearls, and crystals to the forefront, but these elements often have a modern twist.

The new spinoff from Bridgerton covers the fascinating tale of Queen Charlotte. The story covers the meeting of young Charlotte and her future husband the King of England. Charlotte is afraid that King George "is clearly a beast or a troll” and I am sure we will all find this new series equally entertaining.
As for Queen Charlotte’s wardrobe, beige is very much the order of the day, with brocade embellishments and jacquard patterns.
