Whether you are a classic, modern, glam or minimalist bride, there’s something that fits every style. While a few classics, such as heavy embroidered laces seen on Hayley Paige’s 2020 bridal collection, still dominate the runway, new daring trends like an exuberance of colors also make an appearance on Marchesa’s runway. Get excited, because we have rounded up these top wedding trends for you shoe lovers!
Here is the ultimate 2020 bridal shoe trend guide for all brides.
Hopelessly Romantic in Tulle Bow
Tulle has been a favorite for many seasons on the runway and it’s easy to see why. Whimsical, effortless, and lightweight, tulle adds an element of fun and flirty to a romantic occasion. This season, tulle came in the form of pleats on gowns; and bows and ripples on sleeves as seen on designers like Berta, Oscar de la Renta and Mira Zwillinger. Similarly, puffy tulle bows add a feminine affair to the beautifully beaded Edna heel, as seen in the Bella Belle all wedding shoe collection.
Dare to wear colors
Gone are the days when brides are only allowed to wear ivory or white. The 2020 runway proved that color is in, from soft blush to daring pink. Designer Monique Lhuillier brought watercolor-like prints to her gowns, and added dramatic volume to balance the softness of a blush pink dress. Marchesa on the other hand, dreamed of color and designed gowns in bright pink, ushering in an era of color for bridal. Wear the red kitten heel with pearl details, Lisa Red, to accompany this exciting trend.
No Bad Day with Polka Dots
You can’t really have a bad day when you’re wearing polka dots - how could you when you’re wearing the most fun pattern? Designers took cue and incorporated polka dot designs in their gowns. From Valentino to Zuhair Murad, dainty polka dots were seen on tulle. Similarly, Bella Belle incorporated chipped chiffon dots on top comfortable mesh, as seen on Rita. To add volume, beautiful caged bows were added to this polka dotted ivory bridal heel, inspired by renowned bridal designer Galia Lahav.
Never Go Wrong With Embroidered Lace
Some may say lace is basic or been-there-done-that, but lace proves that it is far from being canceled (as the Internet says). Lace in 2020 is all about heavy embroidery, as a homage to the classic lace that was adored by aristocrats. Designers Lela Rose, Pronovias, and Hayley Paige took note and designed gowns that are heavily embroidered with lace in various motifs of flowers and cascading leaves. The Maya lace wedding heel follows suit with a romantic floral lace design. There’s nothing basic about this.
Put a Bow on It
Bows pay homage to our childhood - who can forget wearing bows as the perfect ponytail accessory? This season saw bows elevated to embellished and beaded bows. Marchesa has bows embroidered with floral lace while Pronovias goes for dramatic in an array of embellished beads on the shoulder piece. A combination of both designer’s vision, the Dorothy shoe has embellished beads in the shape of a bow, adding a textured effect to an elegant D’Orsay shape heel.
You Deserve The Pearl
There’s a reason why pearls are known as nature’s most valuable gifts. They are treasures of the ocean and could only be found at the bottom of the seabed, in the shells of oysters. This symbol of wealth and beauty is a favorite amongst designers like Carolina Herrera, Berta and Lee Grebenau who incorporated the jewel clustered at the back or sewn throughout the entire gown. We envision pearls sewn on comfortable mesh with a silk cap toe at the front like the Gabrielle comfortable wedding heel.
Crystal is the New Black
While 2019 was all about clean lines and minimalistic design - as inspired by Meghan Markle, 2020 is all about glitter embellishments and bling (lots of it). Head-to-toe sequins, silver beading and metallic embellishments from designers such as Inbal Dror and Lee Grebenau dominated the runway. To balance the bling, we added an elegant silk cap toe to the Emma wedding heel. Sophisticated yet slightly daring - the perfect combo.
